Residential building products supplier PrimeSource Brands has acquired decking fasteners supplier Starborn Industries for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in Brooklyn in 1961, Starborn Industries originally operated a wood products factory. In the early 1980s, fasteners became the primary focus of the company when drywall screws emerged as a construction fastener. Today Starborn Industries offers a portfolio of branded fasteners and installation tools primarily focused on residential decking and exterior applications. Products include PRO PLUG, CAP-TOR xd, HEADCOTE, SMART-BIT, and DECKFAST.

The transaction represents PrimeSource’s 11th acquisition since partnering with PE firm Clearlake in 2020.

Operating a national footprint with 56 distribution centers, PrimeSource Brands offers specialty building products ranging from construction fasteners and building materials to specialty home hardware.  PrimeSource Brands owns a portfolio of branded products including Grip-Rite, Pro-Twist, Top Knobs, Hardware Resources, Atlas Homewares, North Pointe Cabinets, and Wolf Home Products among others across several categories including construction fasteners, cabinets and cabinet hardware, lighting and plumbing, and outdoor building materials.
