Netherlands-based Fabory plans to expand its Wednesbury operations after almost doubling its UK turnover in less than four years, with a move to larger premises to support its next phase of growth.

The industrial fastener and supply chain specialist is relocating from its existing 20,000 sq ft facility to a site measuring approximately 36,000 sq ft, increasing capacity as demand.

Fabory’s growth is driven by a shift in how manufacturers manage the procurement of fasteners and other essential production components. Rather than treating these items as low-cost commodities, the business works with customers to manage inventory, improve visibility of stock and pricing, and automate replenishment to help prevent production delays.

Customers can access real-time information on stock levels, orders and pricing, enabling more informed purchasing decisions and closer integration between supplier and manufacturer.

“It’s about transparency,” stated UK sales director Luke Garvey. “The more data-driven the relationship, the better the availability and the better the pricing, and that’s what builds a genuine partnership rather than a transactional one.”

Garvey anticipates further consolidation across the UK fastener distribution market, which he estimates comprises between 800 and 900 suppliers. Rising operating costs and growing expectations around digital systems and service provision are likely to create challenges for smaller businesses over the next decade.

Founded in 1947 as Borstlap & Sons, Fabory employs 1,100 to supply fasteners to more than 60,000 customers in EU markets through 44 branches in 13 countries.
