Volt Industrial Plastics founder Joseph Valentine Volltrauer, 87, died February 3.

Born in Yugoslavia, Volltrauer and his family emigrated to the U.S. when he was 14. He pursued an education in tool and die making at trade school, paving the way for a successful career.Early in his career, he worked for JV Tool, crafting molds for companies in the Chicago area.

In 1975, he established Centennial Plastics in Mountain Home, AR. In 1992, founded Volt Industrial Plastics as a birthday gift to himself.

He was inducted into the Fastener Hall of Fame in 2022 for exceptional innovation in the field.

Volltrauer is survived by three daughters: Helga (Dana) Friedland, Brigitte Volltrauer-Shipman, and Heidi Volltrauer; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Erwine Volltrauer.

The family suggests donations in his name to: Spectrum Connection of Arkansas or Hospice of the Ozarks.
