James “Jim” Rodney Anixter, 81, died June 30.
Anixter served as Executive VP of Anixter Brothers for 22 years before founding AZ Wire and Cable in 1988.
“To millions of baseball fans, however, Jim was simply ‘The Pink Hat Guy.’ His unmistakable bright pink baseball cap became one of the most recognizable sights at Cubs games and a beloved symbol of Wrigley Field.”
Over decades, his trademarked cap became an iconic symbol of Wrigley Field. He frequently used his fame to raise money for charity, handing out his custom pink hats in exchange for donations to the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include his wife, Lesley; sons Darren Anixter, Todd Anixter and Eric Anixter; and eight grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and Jewish United Fund Chicago (JUF).
