Italian fastener producer Fontana Gruppo has agreed to acquire KAMAX Group, strengthening Fontana’s European and global footprint, with Kamax’s significant manufacturing presence in Germany, Spain, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and China. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 1935, Homberg, Germany-based KAMAX reports over €700 million in annual sales from 2.8 billion fasteners and complex cold-formed parts. The group employs 3,000 people at 15 locations worldwide.
Following the transaction, Fontana will double in size, operating a total of 42 plants, employing more than 9,000 people, and generating approximately €2 billion in revenue.
“With its 15 plants, Kamax brings a significant contribution to the Group in terms of technological capabilities and know-how,” stated CEO Giuseppe Fontana. “This strategic operation represents a further step in the process of our Group’s global expansion, which in 2025 also saw the completion of the acquisitions of RTF in India and MNP in the United States, further strengthening our already well-established presence in India, United States, Mexico, and Brazil.”
KAMAX advisory board chairman added: “After three generations of building a successful and highly respected company with a unique DNA in the global fastener industry, the shareholders of KAMAX Group are opening a new chapter by transferring all their shares to Fontana Gruppo. We are pleased that, following this decision, KAMAX will become a vital part of an even stronger organization and remain within the hands of a successful family owned company.”
The deal is expected to close in the coming months.
