ASTM International’s fasteners committee (F16) F16 presented its Fred F. Weingruber Award to Kevin Menke, director of engineering at Fastenal. ASTM recognized Menke for “the development of standards that impact and advance the quality and reliability of fasteners used throughout industry.”
Menke’s career focus includes fasteners, fastener applications, fastener specifications, fastener design, mechanical and chemical laboratory analysis, and failure analysis. He joined Fastenal in 1996, and has served as its engineering director since 2014.
A member of ASTM International since 2005, Menke previously received the committee’s Award of Merit. In addition to ASTM International, he is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B18, the Society of Automotive Engineers committee on fasteners, and ISO TC2.
Menke earned a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.
