
Fastenal Co. reported fastener sales declined 2.2% to $198.4 million (30.4% of overall sales) in August, improving from a 6.3% drop in July.
Total August sales fell 2.3% to $652.7 million. Daily sales improved 2.1% to $29.7 million. Sales in the U.S. grew 1.4% to $546.3 million, while sales in Canada and Mexico increased 6.2% to $87.5 million.
By end market, sales to heavy manufacturing customers improved 2.3%, with sales to non-residential construction customers falling 6.4% during August.
Fastenal’s full time workforce increased 2.8% during the month to 21,217 employees. Distribution / transportation personnel grew 5.9% to 3,245, while manufacturing personnel dropped 1.4% to 717 workers.
In the second quarter of 2024, Fastenal’s fastener sales fell 3% to $594 million. OEM fastener sales dropped 2.3% to $373.7 million, while MRO fastener sales declined 4.3% to $220.4 million. Web: fastenal.com
