Taiwan’s leading automotive fastener manufacturer, Spec Products Corp., maintains strong confidence in its U.S. market competitiveness despite current tariff policies ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump, DIGITIMES Asia reports.

The U.S. represents over 60% of Spec shipments, making it the company’s dominant market. Spec Products is led by chairman Zephyr Chang.

While unfazed by U.S. duties, Spec Products said it is bracing for EU CBAM and Taiwan’s carbon tax.

In 2023, the European Union introduced its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), pricing the carbon emitted during the production of carbon-intensive goods imported into Europe

Taiwan initiated a long-delayed carbon fee program on January 1, 2025, that will assess a rate of up to NT$300 (US$9.31) per metric ton of carbon emissions from Taiwan’s biggest carbon-emitters.
