Portland Bolt & Manufacturing Co. acquired Applied Bolting Technology (Applied Bolting), a Vermont-based manufacturer of industry leading Direct Tension Indicating washers (DTIs).

Founded in 1994, Bellows Falls, VT-based Applied Bolting’s proprietary bolting solutions provide visual confirmation of bolt tension in structural connections and are used across construction, infrastructure, energy, and industrial markets.

Applied Bolting will continue to operate in its current Vermont facility, led by president John Cummings.

The acquisition strengthens Portland Bolt’s position in the fastener industry and furthers its long-term growth strategy to expand into adjacent product categories.

“Applied Bolting’s innovative products, strong customer relationships, and passion to educate the industry complement our existing businesses and will enable us to deliver even greater value to our clients across the world,” stated Portland Bolt CEO Blake Ray.

In November 2024, Portland Bolt began building a $4.3 million production facility on a North Augusta, SC, site it acquired Southern Anchor Bolt earlier in the year.

Founded in 1912, Portland Bolt manufactures nonstandard construction fasteners and bolts in a combined 165,000 sq ft spread across two facilities: Portland Bolt Northwest in Portland, OR; and Portland Bolt Southeast in North Augusta, SC.
