Herman Bruce Darling, 83, died August 16 in Florida.

A native of Texas, his 47-year fastener career started at the BOSCO Fastening Service Center in Dallas. In 1988 he became materials VP at Porteous Fastener Co. During his career, Darling made 30 international sourcing trips totaling 1,300 visits to 425 fastener factories worldwide, and spoke at 30 fastener association meetings.

In 2005 he was inducted into the NIFS Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by spouse Cynthia Parker Darling; daughter Elizabeth; parents Herman and Ruth Darling; and siblings Joe Darling, Sally Darling Smith and Richard Darling.

Survivors include four children: RuthAnne Darling (Steven) Syble; Brad (Debbie) Darling; and Amy Darling; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Sherry) Darling and sister-in-law Violet Darling.

A celebration of life will be January 17, 2026, at Pitman Cemetery in Muldoon, TX.
