Fastenal Co. reported fastener sales achieved 1.1% growth to $593.7 million in the first quarter of 2025, after seven consecutive flat or declining quarters. The increase was driven by large customer signings.

OEM fastener sales grew 3.9% to $380.1 million, while MRO fastener sales fell 3.3% to $213.6 million in Q1.

Fastener sales in March jumped 4.5% to $208.1 million as customers front-loaded inventory ahead of President Donald Trump’s “reciprocal” tariffs.

Total Fastenal sales climbed 3.4% to $1.96 billion in Q1, with daily sales increasing 5% to $31.1 million.

“Customer sentiment remains favorable, but more commentary crept into the responses about customers becoming more cautious in light of uncertainty around tariffs,” the company stated.

Gross profit grew 2.6% to $883.9 million, while net income edged up 0.3% to $298.7 million during the quarter. Capital spending rose 11.4% to $53.8 million related to spending for facility construction and upgrades, FMI hardware to support growth in its installed base, IT and manufacturing.

Total personnel grew 2% to 24,181, including 98 full-time employees in distribution and transportation to support increased product throughput at distribution facilities.
